THEir Story
Ricky and Alex first met at work, where they were friendly in passing over the years but never really got to know each other. That all changed one evening when, after a few drinks, Alex was feeling bold and invited Ricky to meet up. Intrigued and excited, he drove on the spot from Emmitsburg, MD to Arlington, VA and the rest was history! The pair’s connection was instant and undeniable, surprising them both. They became a couple shortly after that on Sunday, November 24, 2019 and have been inseparable ever since.
After an amazing year together and with pandemic restrictions lifting, Ricky knew the time was right to ask Alex to marry him. He picked out the ring in early 2021 and enlisted friends and family to help create the perfect proposal. Ricky and his friends got together and constructed a custom wooden gazebo for the occasion, while Alex’s friends and their families planned and prepared a post-proposal surprise dinner and party.
Once Ricky had the proposal plans set, he asked his mom to text Alex and invite her to an awards dinner on Saturday, March 6th. When that day arrived, Ricky asked Alex to pick him up on her way to the event.
On Saturday, March 6, 2021, Alex got dressed up to attend what she thought would be an awards dinner to honor Ricky’s mom. At the same time, their friends and family gathered at the proposal location in preparation of the big night ahead.
Alex made her way up the long driveway, through the fields approaching the B&B. From a distance she saw Ricky in the field waiting for her with a glowing structure in the background. He approached her car and walked her out to the gazebo.
Ricky proposed to Alex at sunset under a gazebo of lights on the property of the historic Mary-Penn Bed & Breakfast in Gettysburg, PA. Family and friends awaited the newly engaged couple inside the B&B for a surprise dinner and party.
Many thanks to photographer, Andrea, for capturing these special moments.
